2) Goals
-
The goal at WELS is to expose its students
to California's global sensibilities and thereby
open their minds to life's possibilities in
a global age.
-
For young men and women planning to study
or work in Western society, the WELS experience
will provide a foundation of cultural understanding
that is bound to lead to success in their
future endeavors.
3) St. Hyacinth Academy
-
WELS students spend their days from 8:00am
to 3:00pm at St. Hyacinth Academy, which offers
an exhilarating educational experience.
-
Students are allocated to small groups with
certified teachers.
-
St. Hyacinth Academy is rich in school tradition
and aims to create an environment which stimulates
learning, promotes growth and allows each
child to attain their potential.
-
Students will participate in an intensive
academic and balanced recreation program throughout
their studies with 6 hours of instruction
Monday to Friday.
-
Currently there are no other Korean students
attending St. Hyacinth.
-
In the company of their western peers they
go through the full curriculum for their age,
guided by teachers who are sensitive to the
linguistic challenge faced by these visiting
children.
-
This time at school also gives WELS students
the opportunity to interact and make friends
with students of their own age from different
backgrounds and nationalities.
-
WELS instructors help students with their
homework after school and also preview the
next day's lesson.
4) Talent Show & Farewell Party
The program culminates with a talent show
and farewell party to which the local residents
are invited. This is when WELS students have
the opportunity to take what they have learned
during their stay in the United States and
combine it with their experiences from back
home to demonstrate their talents in an evening
never to be forgotten.
