The aim of the Multinational Program is to bring students together from all over the world and provide a setting in which they can learn about the Korean language and culture through direct exposure. The hands on approach of WELS enables its students to learn through experience taking them beyond the classroom and books and into the real world.

WELS promotes not only language study but also cultural understanding and healthy living.

Taking advantage of Korea’s natural setting and scenery students will be outside the classroom as much as possible. Outdoor activities will include mini-hikes in the surrounding mountains to learn about the world of nature in the Korean countryside and excursions further in order to uncover the depths of Korea’s history, culture and everyday way of life. During these trips our native born Korean instructors will encourage students to use the Korean language in each situation they encounter. Common courtesy is a matter that WELS’ considers an integral part of its program and all WELS’ students are taught the importance of good manners. Students will be required to show respect for their elders, use language appropriate to the person they are addressing and abide by local customs and accepted behavior. WELS’ insists on proper etiquette at all times.

Throughout WELS’ program students are encouraged to adopt habits that promote both a healthy mind and a healthy body. Each day begins with early morning exercises while other sports activities are aimed at teaching the benefits of teamwork. Organic meals are served and the importance of eating slowly and chewing well are explained. An emphasis is put on personal hygiene and students are required to keep their rooms clean and tidy.

A limited amount of classroom time is inevitable and necessary for preparation, review and reinforcement of language learned. Indoor activities will include singing traditional Korean songs and playing traditional Korean games.
